Lub­bock Chal­lenger Lit­tle League Field

Lub­bock Chal­lenger Lit­tle League is a very unique base­ball pro­gram designed exclu­sively for chil­dren with dis­abil­i­ties. We are a 501 c3 non-profit orga­ni­za­tion ded­i­cated to pro­vid­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for our chal­lenged chil­dren across the South Plains to play baseball.

Reg­is­tra­tion is usu­ally held in Feb­ru­ary, but we have the abil­ity to place late reg­is­tra­tions on teams well into the sea­son. Each sea­son, play­ers receive team caps and jer­seys rep­re­sent­ing actual Major League Base­ball teams and all games are played on a spe­cial field in McAl­is­ter Park located at Mil­wau­kee Avenue and the Marsh Sharp Free­way. The field fea­tures a syn­thetic infield with all lines and bases painted on to accom­mo­date play­ers who require wheel­chairs, walk­ers and crutches.

Each Player has a “Buddy” who assists them with field­ing, throw­ing, bat­ting and run­ning the bases. Each player receives as much or as lit­tle help as needed to play the game.

Lub­bock Chal­lenger Lit­tle League is a fun league that is open to all chil­dren age 5 through 18(or still enrolled in school), regard­less of their phys­i­cal or men­tal chal­lenges. No score is kept and bat­ters can get a “home run” with each at bat. All games are over­seen by coaches, league offi­cials and umpires. Cost is only $10 per sea­son, but no child is turned away. We have schol­ar­ships avail­able to cover the fee for those who are unable to pay.
