Lubbock Challenger Little League is a very unique baseball program designed exclusively for children with disabilities. We are a 501 c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for our challenged children across the South Plains to play baseball.
Registration is usually held in February, but we have the ability to place late registrations on teams well into the season. Each season, players receive team caps and jerseys representing actual Major League Baseball teams and all games are played on a special field in McAlister Park located at Milwaukee Avenue and the Marsh Sharp Freeway. The field features a synthetic infield with all lines and bases painted on to accommodate players who require wheelchairs, walkers and crutches.
Each Player has a “Buddy” who assists them with fielding, throwing, batting and running the bases. Each player receives as much or as little help as needed to play the game.
Lubbock Challenger Little League is a fun league that is open to all children age 5 through 18(or still enrolled in school), regardless of their physical or mental challenges. No score is kept and batters can get a “home run” with each at bat. All games are overseen by coaches, league officials and umpires. Cost is only $10 per season, but no child is turned away. We have scholarships available to cover the fee for those who are unable to pay.
